Assignment #5

This image was inspired by Hank Willis Thomas' artwork (shown below). The word across my chest reads "success". Like Hank Willis Thomas' work, I wanted the word to look as a part of the skin, like scar tissue, or some sort of brand. The message speaks to being defined or branded by someone else's idea of success.

This image was inspired by Jerry Uelsmann's artwork (shown below). With this image, I wanted to stick with a similar message. The way we define success for ourselves has often been put in the hands of another, and I wanted to display how confining that can feel, or how trapped that may make you feel.
